Waiting for the U.S. package to come

There is not much to report - except that Danica is looking forward to the package of medicine and vitamins that Frank had sent. She is extremely excited, and so , so happy!
In the meantime Viktor called one day just to say he is leaving next day to Hungary - so, she could not do anything else but order cheap food from him, a lots of it.
The only other news is that Marponi - the senior citizen with the mouth problem -is little worse off, and Danica is taking him for some new therapy. Well, as long as he lives, she will heal him, there is no other way for Danica.

After the bath

As I promised - here are the absolute latest photos of the shelter tenants right after the massive flea baths...Most of them, as Danica puts it, very, very offended, their pride and feline feelings insulted and hurt by , well, baths...

Just a little update

We are sending a package of kitty medicine and some food to Danica urgently, primarily because she claims that Alla died because of the useless de-worming medicine. Probably so. So, we are sending some serious de-worming medicine, and some flea medicine, because, every shelter inhabitant has fleas again! Danica had to give them flea bath, regardless of how good that bath is, saying the situation is such that she can not even wait for the new flea medicine. She then made me laugh saying that she thinks she needs a flea bath too!

I am posting some new pictures of old tenants, until Danica sends newer ones (after bathing them). She sounded as if she is finally doing fine, after being so upset with little Alla's death.

No more little Alla

Little girl, Alla, who Danica found in the street a month ago or so, has died. She has died tonight, in her sleep. The only comfort is that she died quietly, without pain, without fear, in Danica's hands. As Frank said, one thing we do not have to worry about is that there is a beautiful place up in Heaven reserved for her, as for all those innocent , dear creatures. There is no Hell for animals, any of them , except here, on Earth.

I am posting the picture that Danica asked me to post: little Alla's last kiss with her best friend in the shelter, Zveki. For some reason, they really bonded immediately, and played a lot. Actually, Zveki, as a very fine young gentleman, let Alla tease him and what not, without ever snapping at her.
Rest in peace, little angel.

Let us pray for little Alla

Alla the young kitten - is very sick. Danica has taken her to the vet, who said that the worms basically ate her tummy... Danica almost fainted, because , she did deworm Alla. It turns out that the deworming medicine she has does not work: it is either expired, or simply very, very low quality (maybe it is from China). God knows. We urgently need to send some serious U.S. medicine (vitamin paste called Felovite, deworming medicine, and anything else).

Alla is scheduled to receive fluid tonight in the vet office, but Danica says it will be the third one, and there is no much progress. Alla could not keep anything in her tummy.

Some other kitties are sick too, but not as bad. Icuka (curled up with the other cat), is having heart problems, and is coughing . However, she is kind of a senior citizen . And Okac - the one whose eye was operated on two times - is getting worse again, his eye, that is.

Just a little update

Cat named Novotarija got a bad wound on his leg, so he needs to be taken to the vet (he is the one in the cage). Few other kitties have some tummy problems, but Danica hopes it is nothing serious. The black & white one that looks into the camera is Tabadzija, which, Danica laughs, still does not leave the house after a bad adventure in which he got lost, far from home.

Danica is hoping to get some food & medicine as a generous donation soon! It is true that the shelter's luck is a constant roller coaster, but as long as Danica does not fall out of it, her shelter will survive somehow.

Cats are good, more or less

I have not posted for a long time - I do apologize to all those who kept on coming to see the news - and there was nothing new.

Cats are more-less O.K., except that good , old Marponi is on antibiotics again. Danica told me, however, it is just old age, and that mouth problem - nothing that would require putting him to sleep. He is not in pain, and that is all that counts, Danica says.

Danica, however, has not been feeling well for a long time: her knees are swelling , and she has palpitations.

Cat named Tabadzija , that she had found unexpectedly far from home few weeks ago, does not leave the surroundings. Poor little guy, does not want to be lost again. It must have been bad experience.

I am posting several new pictures, and a funny, but, oh so true e mail that somebody sent to me - about cats as our family (and dogs)

To be posted VERY LOW on the refrigerator door - nose height.

Dear Dogs and Cats,

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack   Beating me to the bottom is not the object.   Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed.   I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort.   Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep.   It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible.  I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom.   If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open.    I must exit through the same door I entered.  Also, I have been using the bathroom for years -- canine or feline attendance is not required.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt.  I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:

To All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets:

1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur"niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.

Remember: In many ways, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

1. Eat less
2. Don't ask for money all the time
3. Are easier to train
4. Normally come when called
5. Never ask to drive the car
6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends
7. Don't smoke or drink
8. Don't have to buy the latest fashions
9. Don't want to wear your clothes
10. Don't need a "gazillion" dollars for college.

And finally,
11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children.
